Lara Croft is among the emblematic video game characters. First heroine of adventure gaming and a sex bomb with her own cover on “Playboy” magazine, all that was left for her was to get a movie. She already has two, but in the Hollywood spirit, the whole franchise is getting a reboot and here is what you should know about it.
IGN shares the first news on the long anticipated return of the famous adventurer on the big screen.
According to them, the reboot of “Tomb Raider” will focus on Lara Croft’s early career and will revolve around her search for her father. Lord Richard Croft went on an expedition from which he never returned and it fall on Lara’s shoulders to explore foreign land and discover the truth about her father. Being familiar with the source material, one thing is sure and that is that the movie will be an action packed adventure, which will carry the emotional spin of Lara molding into the beloved hero from the games.
Pop Crush adds in details surrounding the plot of the future release. It is considered that the movie will borrow a few ideas from the Square Enix reboot of the “Tomb Raider” series. In it, the heroine is in the beginning of her adventures. After a plane crash, she is forced to survive in the wild, while fighting native cannibalistic tribes and secretive military organizations. Maybe her adventure will not be so over the top, but it will be interesting to see the reenactment of a few key scenes of the game onto the big screen.
Producer on the motion picture is Graham King, who has chosen Oscar awarded actress Alicia Vikander for the role of the emblematic treasure hunter. Den of Geek reports that it was the emotional side to the hero which drew Alicia into the role. This is the coming of age story of one of gaming’s most popular heroes. It has to be strong, well-written and delivered with the utmost respect, which is not a light job and a worthy challenge to the actress.
The ”Tomb Raider” reboot will be directed by Roar Uthaug and will launch in the year 2018.
