Despite the lackluster TV rating performance of "Heroes Reborn," many viewers are still hoping that NBC or another studio will greenlight the show's Season 2. Given series creator Tim Kring's earlier comments about the series' potential to depict new stories, several fans are still hoping for the show's return to the small screens.
"Heroes Reborn" marked the continuation of the hit science fiction drama "Heroes" that was broadcast on NBC from 2006 until 2010. With four successful seasons, avid viewers witnessed how ordinary people discovered special abilities and how these superhero-like talents changed their lives.
When NBC announced its planned release of "Heroes Reborn," many fans were excited to see a different chapter to the "Heroes" storyline. However, the NBC series received mixed reviews from critics and viewers alike. After a 13-episode run, the studio decided against a Season 2 renewal.
NBC Chairman Robert Greenblatt shared in earlier interviews that extending "Heroes Reborn" to another season was not part of their broadcast plans for the show. Kring's series was only meant to be shown as a one-time "event series," according to the NBC executive.
However, Greenblatt teased that they are open to revisiting their initial decision if the time comes that Kring will pitch an interesting storyline that may reboot the "Heroes Reborn" series. Moreover, Kring mentioned in a previous interview that there are several plot lines that can serve as the focus of a Season 2.
Previous reports have indicated how the series creator highlighted the show's potential for a reboot. Kring shared that with the basic premise of people banding together to save the world, a new "Heroes Reborn" story can be created.
Meanwhile, in an earlier interview with IGN, NBC President Jennifer Salke shared that while "Heroes" may have a huge fanbase, its popularity failed to pull "Heroes Reborn" to the same success level that it reached. In the same interview, NBC's Greenblatt commented that it would have been better if show featured some of the main characters from "Heroes."
Given the NBC executive's statement, many fans are hoping that Kring will consider adding one of the original show's protagonists' such as Claire (Hayden Panettiere) or Peter (Milo Ventimiglia). However, at this time, it is still unsure if NBC or Kring will consider a Season 2 release for "Heroes Reborn."
