The recent release of the iPhone 7 might have left some anticipating buyers unimpressed but a lot are still looking forward to what Apple has to offer in its next phone. Apple might have been consistently adding minimal features to iPhones as the years go by, but one thing that has been always there is the clarity of the iPhone's camera.
If rumors are true, then that only means that Apple fans have something quite big to look forward to as Apple has some innovative plans for its camera when the next iPhone gets released. Reports say that Apple is currently working closely with Korean tech giant LG on a dual camera which will be capable of 3D photography effects on the iPhone's 10th anniversary.
Not much details have been spilled, but it has been said that the LG Innotek dual-lens camera will very much be sported by the next iPhone when it gets released in 2017. In a report by The Korea Economic Daily, it is said that reliable sources have said that Apple is currently conducting studies as to how it would apply a 3D camera technology through LF Innotek's smartphone camera.
Since LG Innotek has its own 3D camera and other related technologies, such collaboration is very likely to be fruitful and the results will be seen by the public next year. This rumour appears to corroborate with an earlier report that Apple had acquired an Israeli start-up named LinX in April 2015 for $20 Million which made it absorbs its 3D camera technology.
Mac Rumors adds that as of this point, it is still unclear if the 3D photographing features of the sources are referring to hardware-based or to high-end image analysis techniques such as object recognition. Other than all that, it is also reported that Apple is said to have a team that is currently working on augmented reality functionality into the iPhone's camera.
Like most Apple iPhone rumours, these sources have not yet been confirmed and fans would have to wait until next year to see if this really happens. Other rumours say that Apple has an overhaul planned for its 2017 model which has wireless charging features, a full-glass body, edge-to-dege OLED display that integrates a Touch ID fingerprint sensor and more.
