It's no secret that Grand Theft Auto V (or Grand Theft Auto 5) is going to be the grandest entry in the franchise to date.
Rockstar has even mentioned that the area of Los Santos is bigger than the worlds of Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto IV combined.
Due to the huge amount of data required, Rockstar Games confirmed in a Q&A session that the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto V will ship on two disc but won't require a swap due to a mandatory install.
The mandatory 8GB install will require adequate hard drive space or a USB stick.
"If using a USB flash drive it must be at least USB 2.0 with a minimum 15mb/s read speed and formatted for Xbox 360 use," Rockstar wrote. " A new USB flash drive is recommended to ensure optimum performance."
The game can be played entirely from the second disc after installation.
However, the Playstation 3 version is shipping on one Blu-Ray disc and feature a mandatory 8 GB install during the first time the game is played. This is similar to the Playstation 3 edition of Grand Theft Auto IV.
Outside of the differences in installation methods, Rockstar insured that both versions of the highly anticipated open-world game will be exactly the same on both Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
"Players can expect the same great gameplay experience on both Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms as they have both been developed in tandem," wrote Rockstar. " Like all of our games, trust that we're committed to making sure Grand Theft Auto V looks and runs as great as possible regardless of wether you pick it up for Playstation 3 or Xbox 360."
Rockstar's post also mentioned that Grand Theft Auto V's multiplayer will be called "Grand Theft Auto Online" and more information would be unveiled this summer. The New York based publisher also promised better efforts to combat cheating in online multiplayer.
Grand Theft Auto V is set to be released Sept. 17 for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
