After the launch of the Meizu Pro 6s, users were immediately speculating about the potential release of the Meizu Pro 7. A number of leaks of the alleged Meizu Pro 7 came out in the past few months, with some believing that the handset will officially become available on Christmas 2016.
GSM Arena revealed that the VP of Meizu officially postponed the launch of the Meizu Pro 7 for 2017. The flagship model was initially rumored to feature the latest-generation Exynos chip, but is now claimed to run on the new Kirin 960 chipset.
The Meizu Pro 7 is expected to have a number of similar features as the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, such as a curved AMOLED display. The phone is also expected to have an all-metal back and a subtle antenna design.
Based on the leaked images, the Meizu Pro 7 may still have the mTouch Home key with 3-in-1 functionality. The key features Home on click, a fingerprint scanner and back on tap.
The device may also have an ultrasonic sensor behind the front glass. Other leaks, however, suggested that the Meizu Pro 7 may bring back the capacitive Home key, which was last featured on the MX4.
Phone Arena stated that the Meizu Pro 7 may include a 12-megapixel rear camera, and an 8-megapixel front shooter, a 3.5mm jack and USB Type-C support. The handset may have a dual curved-edge display with a 2560 x 1440 resolution, 4GB of RAM and the Samsung Exynos 8890 chipset.
Others say that the Meizu Pro 7 may ultimately arrive with a MediaTek processor. Meizu has a solid working history with Samsung, which hints that the company may be featuring a number of Samsung's latest components in its next flagship model.
After company executives moved the launch date of the Meizu Pro 7 in 2017, more details about the official release date and specifications of the phone are expected to arrive in January. In the meantime, users can enjoy the Meizu Pro 6s, which has a 5.2-inch display, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, a 12-megapixel rear shooter and a 5-megapixel selfie camera.
