Are “Fast & Furious 8” stars Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel really feuding or do they – like many showbiz celebrities – use alleged feuds to promote a future event involving them? In the case of the two actors, speculation is that Dwayne Johnson’s calling Vin Diesel a few months ago a “candy ass” could be actually to drum up public interest in a future Wrestlemania clash between two superstars.
Opptrends writes that their feud began as a real clash. Common Hollywood PR tactics would exploit those differences between actors of an upcoming movie, such as “Fast & Furious 8,” to have more moviegoers watch the movie when it premieres on April 2, 2017.
Unnamed Male Co-Stars
The feud began with Dwayne Johnson using the term “chicken s**t” to describe some of his male co-actors in “Fast & Furious 8.” However, while he did not identify the involved stars, observers concluded Dwayne Johnson was referring to Vin Diesel. Months after the incident, which Dwayne Johnson said Universal Pictures preferred had not occurred, “The Rock” said he is not sorry for calling some of his male co-stars in “Fast & Furious 8” “candy asses,” Digital Spy reports.
Feud Creates More Interest In Movie
Dwayne Johnson added that he and Universal Pictures had talked about his remarks made while shooting “Fast & Furious 8.” He pointed out that it is ironic that after the producer had tracked and analyzed the incident, public interest in the movie even grew further.
However, Digital Spy notes that “Fast & Furious 8” does not need negative publicity to promote the franchise film – which includes Charlize Theron as Cipher, the villain, and Nathalie Emmanuel from “Game of Thrones” as Ramsey, a hacker. After all, “Fast & Furious 7” is the sixth-highest grossing movie which earned for Universal Pictures box-office receipt of $1.5 billion in worldwide exhibition in 2015.
