There’s a brand new trailer for the upcoming Warner Bros. title Batman: Arkham Origins that was shown off during Sony’s E3 press event, and if that’s not enough of a big deal, the trailer also carried a certain reference to the future of the game stating that The Joker will be made available for the title, alongside plans for an upcoming DLC.
To start off the proceedings, a number of incentives were announced for those who pick up the PS3 version of the game. The exclusive Batman: Arkham Origins content to the PlayStation 3 is said to allow players to play as the Joker in challenge maps, alongside the special Knightfall DLC for the game.
The Knightfall DLC will let the player play in the armored Batman/Azrael hybrid suit and a 60s Batman skin that will take us back to the days of notable Adam West.
Batman: Arkham Origins is the immediate successor to Batman: Arkham City that arrived back in 2011, and the third installment in the Batman: Arkham series. The game's main storyline is set years before 2009's Batman: Arkham Asylum and shows a young and brash Batman who becomes the target of assassins on Christmas Eve.
“Batman: Arkham Origins features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original prequel storyline occurring several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City,” the official page says
“Taking place before the rise of Gotham City’s most dangerous villains and assassins, the game showcases a young, raw, unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight. As the story unfolds, witness identities being formed and key relationships being forged.”
The game is set to run on Unreal Engine 3 and introduces a new fast travel system that allows Batman to remotely summon his plane (known as the Batwing) to transport him to other areas of the game world quicker than it would be via gliding or grappling.
The game shows Bats’ rise to power from the initial days and is the perfect setting before the events that unfolded in Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, and begins with the notorious Black Mask placing a bounty on Bats’ head.
Batman: Arkham Origins is currently set for an Oct. 25 worldwide release.
