In Sunday’s episode of the CBS political drama “Madam Secretary” Season 3, Elizabeth McCord (Tea Leoni) will also learn essential information that may put the US-Iran peace treaty in jeopardy.
The previous episode of “Madam Secretary” Season 3 titled “Tectonic Shift” featured the death of the president of Venezuela and his immediate successors after a destructive earthquake hit their country. Elizabeth needed to find a way to stop the late president’s son from taking over the country which was in chaos.
According to the official synopsis by CBS of episode 8 of “Madam Secretary” Season 3, President Dalton is waiting for the Election Day results. Meanwhile, romance is in the air on election night for the members of McCord’s staff. Also in the episode, Jason (Evan Roe) surprises his parents by supporting one of Dalton’s presidential rivals.
The promo trailer for the same episode of “Madam Secretary” Season 3 shows Elizabeth learning about the Russians supplying Iran with centrifuges and there is hard evidence to support it. Moreover, some Russians were killed in the process but Iran seems to be demanding that the US pay for the damages of their own doing.
“Madam Secretary” Season 3 writer Barbara Hall talked in a Tomes Colonist interview about how the series tried to incorporate the actual, real-life US presidential elections. They did talk about everything as people that became engaged in the actual election but they had a completely different discussion when it came to their show’s elections.
Hall added that what was interesting for them in “Madam Secretary” Season 3 was that they had a parallel election. She revealed that they wanted to show the viewers the intricacies of the political process that they may have previously no knowledge about.
