Both Essos and Westeros have its own trademarks. Essos got its free cities while westeros has its beer and wine, the only beverage in the kingdom for "Game of Thrones." Except for water, it's only for children and for drowning your enemies.
A few years back, HBO teamed up with Ommegang (a farmstead brewery) for a tasty line of brews, inspired by "Game of Thrones." It was only a matter of time before matching line of wines came together, and the long wait is finally over.
HBO announced today that they are collaborating with California's Vintage Wines Estate (a collection of family wineries) in partnership to provide a trilogy of "Game of Thrones" wine that will be convenient this coming spring of 2017. All three wines will be in standard-sized 750 mL bottles. The two bottles, "Game of Thrones" Chardonnay and Game of Thrones Red Blend, will be $19.99, while the "Game of Thrones" Cabernet Sauvignon is $39.99 per bottle.
"Given the prominent role of wine on Game of Thrones and our previous success in the beverage category, an officially licensed wine for the show feels like a natural extension for our fans. Game of Thrones wines most definitely will add to the fan experience as the battle of Iron Throne heats up heading into the final seasons," Jeff Peters, Director for Licensing and Retail for HBO.
For those who are both fan of "Game of Thrones" and wines, add more excitement for the upcoming debut of season 7 which will be announce sooner. Even dough season 7 debuts this coming Holiday Season is far from reality. At least the "Game of Thrones" wines will arrive before season 7. So let's fill our cups, raise your glass and toasts to the future of Throne heads drunkards. Kudos!
