Gameloft has released an E3 trailer for its upcoming fifth iteration of mobile first-person shooter Modern Combat.
One of the series' biggest features is its beautiful visuals and Modern Combat 5 steps it up even more. Taking place in an Italian-like city, the trailer features spectacular water and lighting effects outside of high resolution textures. From the looks of things destructible environments seems to be in line also.
Gameplay wise, Modern Combat 5 doesn't look to step away from its Call of Duty inspiration including shooter standards and rail-shooting sequences like a high-speed boat chases through canals. On the mobile front Modern Combat has managed to outdo Call of Duty's own mobile version.
According to reported rumors, forums have been calling Modern Combat 5's subtitle "Last War."
Previous editions of Modern Combat are available on both iOS and Android app stores for $6.99 each except for the first game in the series at $4.99. Expect Gameloft to reveal more information on Modern Combat 5 next week at E3.
It's been quite a good year for the Paris based developer financially according to an investor report. Gameloft announced in early May that it's first-quarter smartphone app sales grew by 71 percent year on year. The developer attributes its success to the free-to-play model that's been in place on many apps since 2011. In-app purchases and advertising revenues made up 67 percent of the company's smartphone sales.
Last week, Gameloft linked with Mattel to release the free UNO & Friends for Android and iOS devices along with a Facebook version coming soon.. Senior Vice President of Publishing Gonzague de Vallois was proud of the partnership.
"Now, with a strong franchise such as UNO and more than three generations of fans, Gameloft is thrilled to be able to partner with the company to bring a beloved pastime into the digital social space so that fans can now connect with one another from around the world via their social and mobile networks," said Vallois.
