Seamlessly blending characters and worlds from one of gaming's most beloved RPG series, and some of cinema's most established children's stories is no easy feat. But Disney and Square Enix managed to pull it off, successfully enough that it managed to create a whole franchise around the premise.
While we're still no closer to a legitimate Kingdom Hearts 3, we're still set to get a pretty hefty compilation and HD revamp in the form of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX this fall.
The mouthful of a title contains the remake of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories (subtle, huh?), a sequel to the first Kingdom Hearts game that was initially only available on Game Boy Advance. The remake was available on PlayStation 2, and had to be completely redseigned so it would fit the same graphic scheme as the first two Kingdom Hearts games. It's inclusion in ReMIX will make it the first time it'll be playable on the PlayStation 3.
Also included is Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, a remake of the first Kingdom Hearts game, with a virtual buffet of added and changed features, including difficulty levels, brand new and palette swap bosses, new enemies, weapons, abilities, accessories, cutscenes, it really goes on and on.
Finally, there's also a full cutscene collection from the DS title, Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. Content of three games in one neat little package. Throw in trophy support and HD graphics, and you have yourself a whole lotta game.
So, just to be clear, Kingdom Hearts Final Mix + Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories + a cutscene collection from Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days = Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX. Understand? Me neither, but at least it looks amazing.
Check out the new trailer for yourself below. ReMix hits the States this September.
