GoPro Hero Karma Latest News & Updates: US Refunds Sweetened With Free Hero5 Black Action Cameras

GoPro suffered a big blow when the GoPro Karma Drone turned out to be a dud. Despite positive reviews, an issued tied up to the shortage of power made the device a disappointing buy.

To date, GoPro has yet to issue an official explanation on the cause of the underpowered GoPro Karma Drone. 2,500 drones are up for recall and many customers have been forced to wait on refunds for the failed product.

In an effort to make up for the GoPro Karma Drone’s fail and the wait on refunds, the company has offered to give affected buyers a Hero5 Black action camera once the affected drones are returned, Engadget reported. The offer is valid only to folks residing in the U.S.

With the setback, GoPro finds its stock tumbling. While reports have it that only a very small number of units were affected, the recall was made to fix the issue. The development leaves a tarnished mark for GoPro which was hoping to ramp up sales numbers for the last quarter of 2016, USA Today reported.

For the record, this is not the first time that the company has dealt with a setback. Back in 2015, the GoPro Hero Session camera (sold for $399) didn’t do quite well and the company ended up lowering the price.

It was practically downhill from there as the company tried to come up with new products to check their skid. With the GoPro Karma Drone turning out to be a dud, the company may need to turn to other products to raise it from its current predicament.

The GoPro Karma was sold for $1,100 that included a Hero 5 GoPro camera and a Steadicam like Grip. As far as the recall is concerned, these will have to be returned as well. Some have maintained that their units are doing fine though the company urges them to participate in the recall as they place premium on safety.
