Square Enix has been very coy about Murdered: Soul Suspect. Since launching a teaser trailer for the game last February, the studio hasn't said very much about the title. Square Enix has yet to even announce the developer of the game. Leaving many to wonder what exactly is going on with the very mysterious current gen title.
Luckily, the publisher has started to open up a little bit about the game. Murdered: Soul Suspect has just released its first full trailer. Square Enix has been teasing the game on Twitter for the last few months but the trailer is the first real look at the game. The trailer offers a bit of excitement for a game that few really knew about until recently.
Showcasing a unique story and good-looking visuals, Murdered: Soul Suspect looks to be one of the more promising titles for the struggling publisher. Check out the recently released trailer and the most pressing facts for the game below.
Setting the scene
The trailer sets the scene for a murdered detective solving his own murder. It's heavy on story elements but lacking in gameplay. However, what the trailer does show looks quite promising.
Players take on the role of ghost detective Ronan O'Connor. The trailer opens up with O'Conner being murdered by a masked killer. Unable to move on, O'Conner takes it on himself to solve his own murder.
Gameplay
According to a press release from Square Enix, the game takes place in the sandbox world of a virtual Salem, Massachusetts. O'Connor is unable to communicate with the living so he has to manipulate the detectives on the case by swaying their minds and actions.
Square Enix doesn't go into great detail on the type of elements featured in the game. However, the studio says players will be able to interview fellow members of the undead, feature puzzle elements and must fight off demons that are attempting to take O'Connor's soul to the underworld.
When will it be released?
Square Enix doesn't have a firm release date at the moment. The publisher says the game will release sometime early next year. Murdered: Soul Suspect will be released on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.
Rumors say Square Enix will delve into the game in more detail during E3 2013. Until then check out the full trailer for Murdered: Soul Suspect below.
