‘Battlefield 1’ Latest News & Update: Game Is October’s Best Seller In U.S.; Software Sales Up 36%

“Batttlefield 1” was the best-selling video game in October in the U.S., according to NPD’s monthly sales report. The popular first-person shooter game has good chances of keeping the top spot in November since it is being bundled with “Titanfall 2” and discounted heftily for Xbox Live Gold subscribers.

Software sales is definitely on an upswing with sales up 36 percent compared to October 2015. Total sales jumped to $539 million, but consumer spending on software, hardware and accessories grew by only six percent year-on-year, as accessories and hardware sales declined at identical rates of 20 percent, Sam Naji, NPD analyst, said.

Hardware And Accessories Sales Down

He explained that the release of popular titles such as “Battlefield 1,” “Mafia III” and “Gears of War 4” – the top three games in October – helped boost software spending by one-third to offset the lower spending on hardware and accessories, Naji said. For hardware, it was Xbox One which is the clear winner with four straight months of higher sales compared to rival PS4.

The six other games in the Top 10 list of NPD for October 2016 are “FIFA 17,” “NBA 2K17,” “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim,” “WWR 2K17,” “Civilization VI,” “Titanfall 2” and “Madden NFL 17.” Bumped off from the Top 10 list were “Overwatch,” “Call of Duty: Black Ops III” and “Grand Theft Auto V,” Gamesport reported.

Polygon reported that Xbox Live Gold subscribers could buy the two Electronic Arts-published games, available in a digital bundle, on Windows PC through Origin, Playstation 4 via Playstation Store and Xbox One through the Xbox Games Store. The “Battlefield 1-Titanfalll 2” Deluxe Bundle provides a $9.99 discount since regular price of the package is $149.99, while if the two games are purchased separately as Deluxe Editions, the price is $79.99 each.

More Discounts On 2 Games

But Microsoft is further offering a 50 percent discount on the $149.99 price to only $75 for Xbox Live Gold members. The offer lasts only for four days, but on Black Friday, the two games would be discounted to $30 or $35, but buyers are advised to come to the store early.
