The Surface Book is Microsoft's most heavyweight hybrid device offering to date. With its impressive specs and premium build, there is no doubt that it is the gold standard for 2-in-1 devices. However, fans have now been clamoring for the Microsoft Surface Book 2.
Improved Graphics
Apple still seems to be the biggest competition for Microsoft in terms of premium laptop devices. With this, what the Microsoft Surface Book 2 needs to do is to pack specs that could trump the MacBook Pro 2016. While the tech company introduced the Surface Book i7 version last month, a proper sequel should be under way.
Where the MacBook Pro 2016 easily beats the Surface Book i7 is in the graphics department. The AMD Radeon Pro 450 equipped in the Apple laptop is known for its low energy consumption and fast performance in gaming and 3D rendering. While it also packs 2GB of RAM, the AMD Radeon Pro 450 easily beats Microsoft's Nvidia 965M. Should we expect this on Microsoft Surface Book 2, too?

Apple introduced the Touch Bar strip in place of the function keys in the new MacBook Pro 2016. The Force Touch trackpad has also been implemented with a larger real estate. Where the Surface Book shines is in the touch screen itself, along with the Surface Pen input. Will this happen in Microsoft Surface Book 2 also?
The touch screen nature of the Microsoft Surface Book 2 would give it an instant advantage over the MacBook Pro 2016. The Surface Pen is also a big step up, as no Apple Pencil is compatible with the MacBook. What Surface Book 2 should do is to incorporate a much-improved trackpad and improve the Surface Pen to incorporate more gestures, pressure sensitivity, and accuracy.
Release and Other Specs
Lastly, the Microsoft Surface Book 2 should keep the features that keep it a pro device and ditch the ones that users complain about. With the omission of the SD card slot in the MacBook Pro 2016, the Surface Book 2 should just leave it untouched. Also, the gaping hole in the middle of the folded device should be eliminated, or at least reduced. A 4K resolution display and Intel Kaby Lake processors are also rumored to be integrated to the Surface Book 2.
