If you've been playing the hell out of "Battlefield 1" since it dropped last month and are already getting bored, brace yourself for this new challenge. EA has turned a new set of servers for their hit World War I shooter online today for more elite players looking to play with fellow elite players.
EA announced on their official Twitter account yesterday that their new Hardcore servers for "Battlefield 1" has gone live, on 4 p.m. Pacific/7 p.m. Eastern on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One as part of the new Fall update. The Hardcore servers aren't only bringing together a higher level of competition to players, but they're also switching up the gameplay experience to turn up the pressure. For example, changes include the removal of the minimap, crosshair, or reducing enemy visuals, according to the official EA blog post.
Players can apparently change up the settings per game on the new "Battlefield 1" Hardcore server, which was announced last week. This new design may have been a response to other multiplayer first-person shooters getting easier and easier, such as Blizzard's "Overwatch." Such games have made it easier for players to hit opponents with their weapons and abilities, and while it allows more players to enjoy the game, others may be looking for a more challenging experience. EA apparently wants "Battlefield 1" to cater to a more competitive kind of gamer with this new update.
It's definitely a valid concern, considering "Battlefield 1"'s player base has become so huge so soon after its launch. Players looking for a separate field of play would definitely enjoy the Hardcore servers, especially after it puts out a new DLC map next month called Giant's Shadow.
