Following last week's Gran Turismo 6 reveal and Microsoft's huge Xbox One announcement, Sony decided to close the week with a brand new trailer for its Playstation 4 exclusive Driveclub.
Driveclub's short 38-second trailer doesn't reveal much outside of what's been mentioned already. What is known is that Driveclub is a team based racer that plans on having an extremely immersive first-person view. Game Informer revealed in its latest PS4 blow-out issue that the Evolution Studios developed racer will be "one of the biggest titles for Sony from a DLC perspective" and give players the ability to create online challenges through mobile apps. Other features mentioned included Sony's DualShock 4 touchpad being used for menu navigation and possibly camera control.
Evolution Studios' title will be the developer's first home console game since last year's MotorStorm: RC for Playstation 3 and Vita. Driveclub was one of the titles Sony showcased at its Playstation 4 reveal last February. Game Director for Evolution Matt Southern describes the launch title as a game for those who appreciate fast motor vehicles.
"We collaborated with the best car companies in the world, working with them to create the most detailed and authentic car interiors and exteriors possible," said Southern of the PS4 launch title.
Seems like quite a year for Sony's racing franchises as it recently announced Gran Turismo 6 for PS3 and possibly PS4 last week during a 15 year anniversary for the series at Silverstone Circuit. Gran Turismo 6 is expected to offer a total of 12000 selectable vehicles, 33 locations to burn rubber on and improved online racing.
With Microsoft announcing its new Forza series entry Tuesday as a Xbox One launch title, it's quite interesting how it'll measure up against Driveclub though outside of one main difference. Forza is a hard-core racing-sim and Driveclub being steep in accessibility through its arcade style.
