Channing Frye came up big off the bench to help the Cleveland Cavaliers fend off the Toronto Raptors. Frye scored 13 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter to help cap off an 18-5 run by the Cavaliers.
Frye teamed up with Kyrie Irving, who scored 10 of his 24 in the fourth, to score 23 of the Cavaliers 30 points in the final period. The Cavaliers blew a 12-point lead in the third quarter and found themselves down by seven points with under five minutes left in the game. Since then, the Cavaliers went on a run to get their ninth win of the season which is tied for the franchise's best start of the season.
LeBron James delivered a mighty performance with his 28 points, nine rebounds, and 14 assists. He caused matchup problems for the Raptors who were playing without Demarre Carrol, their best perimeter defender.
Kyle Lowry also had an excellent performance despite the loss with his 28 points, five rebounds, nine assists and four steals. "I'm not encouraged by any loss," said Lowry. "We want to win every single game. Every time we touch the floor we want to win games," the player said.
Lowry did have help on the offensive end from his partner Demar DeRozan who is currently the league's leading scorer. DeRozan scored 26 points but shot just 10-27 from the field. "They executed to perfection at the end," said DeRozan. "They got the shots that they wanted and knew what they wanted to run and they got good looks."
The dynamic backcourt duo combined for 54 points but it wasn't enough to stop the James, Irving and Frye who also got help from Tristan Thompsons and Kevin Love. Thompson tallied 15 points and 11 rebounds while Love had 19 points and 13 rebounds. Keep it here for more news and updates on the 2016-17 season of the NBA.
