It is very disappointing for avid fans of "Vampire Diaries" that the series will wrap up with the Season 8. The official announcement, that the series will conclude, was made on July 23 at San Diego Comic-Con 2016.
According to "Vampire Diaries" official site, executive producer Kevin Williamson announced that "there is a final bad". The report also claimed that the Season 8 will be darker, succinct and full of shocking twists and turns.
Now the show has been aired and excited fans are eagerly waiting for Nina Dobrev, who is supposed to return to the show. Earlier, the buzz was that Dobrev is not going to make a comeback to the show. However, executive producer Julie Plec is determined to have Dobrev back in the Season 8 and her appearance will as Katherine Pierce and not as Elena Gilbert, as per Mobile Apps. Pierce's return will be a blow to Damon Salvatore. Already, the Season 8 saw the return of Tyler and Matt. Is this an indication that Katherine Pierce may resurface in the show. Nevertheless, Pierce's reprisal is not confirmed yet.
Most importantly, Dobrev's presence in "Vampire Diaries" was a boost to the show. Apparently, the show's ratings went down after Dobrev's exit and this is one of the reasons that the show is ending.
However, rumors are doing the rounds that Katherine Pierce will also not be able to change the "Vampire Diaries" season 8's ending which will be dreadful, more so for Elena and Damon. At the same time, the fans can heave a sigh of relief as Ian Somerhalder will join Season 8 and he should be successful in turning himself into a human again.
Till now the "Vampire Diaries" Season 8 is away from the dark world or hell. However, there is a high chance that it has to face the dark world soon as Sybil said that she gave Damon a glimpse of the hell waiting for him.
