"Fifty Shades Darker" successfully dodged the NC-17 rating and was awarded an R-rating by the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) to the relief of its fans. While this news certainly elated a lot of fans, they may be in for a big disappointment with the rumors going around. Jamie Dornan will reportedly leave the franchise -- replaced by Ian Somerhalder - prompting Dakota Johnson to leave as well.
'Fifty Shades Darker' Gets A R-Rating
"Fifty Shades Darker" was given an R-rating for obvious reasons: strong erotic sexual content, and graphic nudity and language as People reported. Despite its steamy scenes, MPAA awarded the E.L. James-inspired film an R-rating.
This means that those who are under age 17 may be able to watch "Fifty Shades Darker" with adult supervision. NC-17 - or the no child under 17 - won't allow anyone under the age of 17 even with an adult or parent accompaniment.
The trailer for "Fifty Shades Daker" has made the impression that it would be as sensual, romantic and steamy as the first title. In fact, the trailer teased a steamy shower scene teeming with sexual tension between Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan.

While the R-Rating is a major hurdle that "Fifty Shades Darker" was able to overcome, may not be an easy fit. The latest rumors suggest that Ian Somerhalder will replace Dornan. On top of that, Dakota Johnson is rumored to be leaving the franchise if Dornan leaves.
Ian Somerhalder Replaces Jamie Dornan?
It appears "Fifty Shades Darker' will be the last time fans will see of Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan if rumors prove correct. Recent reports claim that Ian Somerhalder will replace Dornan in the succeeding installments, citing personal issues. As such, Dakota Johnson will reportedly follow the footsteps of Dornan, leaving the franchise as well.
However, when Dornan was asked about the rumors of being replaced by Somerhalder during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, he pointed out that looking for another Christian Grey would be an expensive mistake. Nevertheless, he admitted that Somerhalder would be a terrific choice for Christian Grey after "Fifty Shades Darker."
GameNGuide previously reported that there may be an affair between "Fifty Shades Darker" main stars, prompting the Amelia Warner (Dornan's wife) to force her husband to leave the franchise. "Fifty Shades Darker" will hit the big screen on February 8, 2017. Stay tuned to GameNGuide for more updates on "Fifty Shades Darker!"
