Linsanity takes a halt after Jeremy Lin injured his hamstring back in November 2 during their game against the Detroit Pistons. Three games later, his contributions have been sorely missed after the Brooklyn Nets give away two of their next three games.
For the first five games of the season, Jeremy Lin scored with an average of 15 points, 6.2 assists and 1.4 steals in 26.8 minutes of play. His best night came against the Indiana Pacers on October 28 as he flirted with a triple-double with 21 points, nine rebounds and nine assists resulting to a 103-94 victory by the Brooklyn Nets.
As the Brooklyn Nets returned to compete against their neighboring team - the New York Knicks, they started the game without a pure point guard with Bojan Bogdanovic and Sean Kilpatrick, who are both listed at shooting guard. With no point guard that can step up from the bench, Jeremy Lin's services were severely missed.
The Brooklyn Nets rallied around Brook Lopez, who scored 21 points, four rebounds, three blocks while the center tried contribute more with his new profound three-point range but only sank one out of five from the arc. Other than Brook Lopez, Justin Hamilton came off from the bench with 21 points to help with the scoring load. Justin Hamilton and Brook Lopez were the only players that scored double figures for the Brooklyn Nets.
The underperforming New York Knicks were down by ten in the first quarter but when the Brooklyn Nets tried to use their bench rotation... that was when the clog happened. Their ten-point lead vanished in the second quarter and the Knicks coasted all the way to the win.
To add insult to injury, New York Knicks President Phil Jackson came out in the media complaining about his team failing to run the triangle offense the next day even with the win over the Brooklyn Nets. With only one week away until Jeremy Lin's could possibly return to the lineup, it showed that his presence in the team's offense is the key to get games closer and at striking distance to score victories and to improve on their win-loss record this season.
