Even though DC's Dark Knight has been out of the movie spotlight for a year now, there is still plenty of Batman action to look forward to in the publisher's upcoming comics. DC recently revealed their August lineup for Bruce Wayne and the Bat-family, and readers both old and new will surely find something worth checking out.
Leading the pack is Scott Snyder's flagship Batman series, which will see its 23rd issue this August. The book is set to turn the clock back to Batman's origins, which should be a nostalgic treat for long-time readers.
According to DC, just about every other current Bat-book will reach issue 23 as well in August. Fans can look forward to Detective Comics and Batman: The Dark Knight, which will feature clashes with the Wrath and Clayface, respectively.
Of course, good ol' Brucey won't be the only one getting some action this summer. Batman and Nightwing will explore the fate of Damian Wayne, while Nightwing's solo book will further Dick Grayson's battle against the Prankster. Batwing readers will get a new book in August, as will those who follow Red Hood and the Outlaws.
It wouldn't be the Bat-universe without its femme fatales, and fans of Batman's female friends can look for the 23rd issues of Batgirl, Batwoman, and Catwoman.Batgirl finds Commissioner Gordon on the hunt for his own daughter, while Catwoman is caught in a desperate struggle to stay alive.
On top of these ongoing titles, Bat-fans will be treated to the Batman, Incorporated special. This one-shot collection contains work from an all-star group of writers and artists, and will feature heroes such as Man-of-Bats, Dark Ranger, and El Gaucho.
The Batman comics are looking to move strongly into August, and there is certainly a title out there for everyone. Whether you are following Snyder's take on the caped crusader or want to delve deeper into the lives of Nightwing and Batgirl, it shouldn't be hard finding a few solid reads for the end of summer.
