There are only a few more episodes to air for “Girl Meets World" Season 3 but so far, the show has not received a renewal order from the Disney Channel. Meanwhile, fans are looking into the titles of the upcoming episodes as hints of its impending cancellation now that Riley, Maya and Lucas together with their friends are in high school.
The “Girl Meets World” writers themselves seem to hint that the series might be coming to end by January in an episode titled “Goodbye” by their post on Twitter based on the episode guide of
TV.Com. A network representative has previously stated that Disney does not have any plans for the show beyond the current season yet. But, this may be because the season will have new episodes until 2017.
This sparked speculations that “Girl Meets World” Season 3 may also serve as the series finale for the drama series. They expressed their sentiments by replying on the tweet. Other fans on the other hand believe that the series will be picked up by other networks like Freeform especially now that Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and her friends are now in high school reports TV Line.
It has been previously reported that it has been a struggle for the “Boy Meets World” spinoff series to keep a balance between the plot and Disney’s audience which is relatively younger compared to other networks’. Still, others think that the Disney network is simply holding off the renewal announcement for “Girl Meets World”. It is widely known that the show is one of the better performing series of the network aside from having a solid fan base.
“Girl Meets World” stars’ cryptic posts in social media only help to fan cancellation flames however. Blanchard for one tweeted that she knows as much about the cancellation as the fans do. She ended the tween by saying that the the family they have created on the set is something she will never forget. Meanwhile, Uriah Shelton, who plays Blanchard’s uncle on the show tweeted his thanks to the fans and said he will miss them.
