The iPhone SE is one of the most successful Apple variant within this year and is one of the cheapest yet reliable iPhone a consumer can afford. However, the KGI Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo has reveal that the iPhone SE will no longer have its annual update.
Canceled Upgrade For iPhone SE
In a report from MacRumors, Kuo decided to stop the iPhone SE updates due to increase margins on the iPhone SE as its older components reduce in price. Ming-Chi Kuo also hold the iPhone SE upgrades to reduce risk of cannibalization that a 2017 iPhone SE could have on sales of the more profitable iPhone 7.
In the business end point of view, Kuo's decision to cancel out the iPhone SE upgrades makes sense given that the iPhone 7 sales would be impacted due to consumers who wants the Apple's budget handheld. Kuo added that the decision to leave a new iPhone SE would gravely impact Apple's raw sales in the future.
Meanwhile, Kuo stated that total shipment volume of iPhone 7's will decline in the first half on 2017 due to small demand of the Apple variant in Asian countries, particularly in China. The KGI analyst also predicts that iPhone shipment will decrease within 10% in the second quarter of 2017 and garnering a total of $35 million in sales, less than last year's $40.4 million in the second quarter alone.
The iPhone SE was introduced back on March 2016 with the Apple variant flaunting most of iPhone 6 features and the 4-inch body frame of the iPhone 5. It's unclear of what would have been the said upgrade for the iPhone SE, but its built-in components and features are powerful enough to last iPhone SE for years to come.
