"Saturday Night Live" recruited actor Alec Baldwin to portray Donald Trump for its fall season following the epic 2016 presidential election results. Baldwin likewise attested that he is looking forward to spending a temporary gig for the series.
Just this week, the 2016 Presidential elections shocked the American nation after Donald Trump was announced as the new President of the United States. Accordingly, prevailing comedy show, "Saturday Night Live," has announced that they will do a comical segment of the elections.

Initially, Taran Killam, a regular of the series cast, portrayed Trump during fall of 2015. Before that, Darrel Hammond filled in the role in the franchise for several years. However, he had also played Bill Clinton that the series decided to invite Baldwin to portray the new president in further episodes of the series this fall, reported Deadline.
Despite the invite to Baldwin, SNL also revealed that there may be other alternatives to play the new president. Lorne Michaels was also lodged as a possible proxy for the role. At present, the series has not confirmed that Baldwin will be coming back this Saturday as Trump, reported Independent.
When asked about the possibility of playing Trump, Baldwin was speculative as to whether he sounded like the new president. However, he also pitched that he was picked for the role possibly because of his presence which was deemed similar to Trump.

Along with Trump, the franchise would also cover Melania Trump who would be played by Cecilia Strong. When Trump was asked about the portrayal, he revealed that he was not a fan of comedians impersonating him on the show.
