Fans of Windows Phone 8 will have a new smartphone option later this month, as Verizon has announced the Nokia Lumia 928. The Windows Phone will be coming to Verizon exclusively on May 16 for the low, low price of $99.99 (that's after a $50 mail-in rebate, and with a two year contract). The Nokia Lumia 928 features a 4.5-inch AMOLED screen, an 8.7 megapixel camera capable of HD video recording up to 1080p, and access to Verizon's 4G LTE network for fast data downloading and uploading speeds.
While the beastly camera inside the Lumia 928 will make the Windows Phone perfect for mobile photography and video junkies, the device also packs features that will make the device desirable for mobile gamers on the go. For one, high amplitude audio capture will be available via the device's three distortion-free microphones, allowing players' recorded audio in singing or humming games to come through crystal clear.
The Lumia 928 will also make all genres of games (specifically music games) a pleasure to both listen to and play.
"We've put one of the most advanced smartphone loudspeakers on the market on this device," says Ifi Majid, head of smart devices product marketing for Nokia North America. "It allows you to playback music or video up to 1-2 decibels, higher than anything else out there."
Running Windows Phone 8 means that the Nokia Lumia 928 will also have all of the features Windows Phone gamers have come to expect, including Xbox Live connectivity and supported Windows Phone games. While some Windows Phone games are standalone experiences, let's also not forget that that platform itself is more desirable for those games that allow players to earn achievements and Gamerscore points for their Xbox Live Gamertags.
Finally, the Lumia 928's Bluetooth capabilities will allow gamers to use their favorite headphones or wireless accessories to dive even deeper into supported games, without the need for messy cables or secondary programs. Nokia has released the first hands-on video for the Nokia Lumia 928, so check that out below.
