After the critical success of its Season 2, Noah Hawley’s “Fargo” will be returning for a third run. Based on Joel Cohen’s 1996 film, the series tells of a gripping story of a small town in Minnesota. The new season will be set in 2010 and four tears after the events of Season 1. It is reported to explore the selfie-oriented culture.
One of the latest news that have lately come out for the crime drama anthology is the addition of Jim Gaffigan to the cast as a series regular. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gaffigan will be playing the role of a police deputy named Donny Mashman in “Fargo” Season 3. His character will be working with police chief Gloria Burgle (Carrie Coon).
The news about Gaffigan signing up for “Fargo” came just a little after he and his wife left their popular comedy series, “The Jim Gaffigan Show”. Their reason for leaving was that they wanted to spend more time with their family.
The police chief of “Fargo” Season 3 is Gloria Burgle, a newly divorced mother who isn’t a fan of the advances in technology. She does not get why society is now choosing to interact using mobile devices instead of personal contact. Also joining the star-studded cast is “Halt and Catch Fire” actor Scoot McNairy. There are no available details on his role as of this time.
Leading the “Fargo” Season 3 cast however is Ewan McGregor who will play the roles of brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy who will be the central characters of the narrative reports Deadline. The brothers have contrasting personalities and a very competitive relationship.
According to the character description of Emmit Stussy, he is referred to as the Parking Lot King of Minnesota. He is handsome, self-made and a family man. He represents the American success story in short. Emmit’s brother however, is the opposite of everything about him according to “Fargo” spoilers.
Ray Stussy is balding and pot-bellied. He is the guy who peaked in high school. He will be a parole officer in “Fargo” Season 3 who had quite a big chip on his shoulder. Ray blames his brother, Emmit, for all his misfortunes that fate’s hand has dealt him.
Production for “Fargo” Season 3 will start late this year. It is expected to premiere on FX in 2017.
