"Gears of War 4" is slowly gaining grounds among the shooter niche as it sold over 600,000 retail copies during the first week of release. Microsoft Studios and developer The Coalition expect further rise in sales this November.
Sales chart shows that "Gears of War 4" has solid foothold in the US market because more than half of sales came from the region, translating into 342,226 copies sold. The next bulk can be traced from Europe with 188,813 units to comprise 31 percent. This region can be dissected further with UK, France and Germany leading. While in Asia, Japan led the region with close to 32,000 sales.
Ok, players will think that "Gears of War 4" figures from the first week of sales doesn't look great compared to predecessors. In fact, VGChartz reported that when its closest sibling "Gears of War 3" launched at Xbox 360, it sold a staggering 3 million copies in the first week. However, it is notable that part of sales for 4th iteration isn't in physical disc but through digital copies. This could safely peg "Gears of War 4" at 1 million copies, digital included.
In a related development, "Gears of War 4" celebrates the 10th year anniversary of the franchise last weekend. The Coalition marked the celebration with an update pack that features Gary Carmine sporting special weapons and other goodies. Further, there were several tweaks made in Operations Pack, Versus and Horde Boosters earlier, Windows Central reported.
Players can enjoy the rebalanced XP and Credits system in "Gears of War 4" to compliment depending on the difficulty of achievements. Even losses in multiplayer mode will also earn increased Credit. Players don't have to fret this time around because either of the packs and boosters can earn guaranteed customization items.
At any rate, GameNGuide suggests players to start that extended "Gears of War 4" playing time. It is because these new contents are also unlockable through in-game currency. Anniversary gear pack alone would cost 200 credits.
