One of the highly criticized features of “Pokemon Go” is its senseless tracking feature though all that may be addressed soon. The word around is that Niantic has started to rollout a new ‘nearby’ tracking tool though it only covers San Francisco and Seattle for now.
As mentioned in a previous post, “Pokemon Go’s” default tracking feature left a lot to be desired. This was one reason why most were turning to third-party apps like FastPokeMap, PokeMesh, and PokeWhere.
All that may potentially come to an end soon though it still depends on how the new tracking feature pans out for “Pokemon Go” players. The game’s ‘nearby’ feature has been updated though its availability has been limited to certain regions for now, according to the game’s official Facebook page.
The new “Pokemon Go” ‘nearby’ tracking tool is currently available to the full San Francisco Bay area, the state of Arizona and Seattle as of this writing. There is no official word on when other regions can expect the updated feature though this is a big step towards that direction.
This becomes the latest big update for “Pokemon Go” players since it was released back in July 2016, an important one that most players have ranted about. Most have complained about the lack of direction for the game but this development stands to be a sign of better things to come, Slash Gear reported.
If the rollout finally hits a global niche for “Pokemon Go” players, it will be interesting to see if some will still turn to third-party apps for aid. Niantic doesn’t take lightly of players using third-party apps, something that could result in account suspensions or bans.
This is despite claims by developers from apps like FastPokeMap that their programs are legal and do not go against Niantic’s terms of service. Could these third-party “Pokemon Go” apps end up useless soon?
