Being a cop will always be in Jim Gordon's blood, and with "Gotham" Season 3 Episode 7, Jim will finally wear the badge again. In the past seasons, many have alluded to knowing Jim's father, but this is the episode where they start to reveal the truth about him.
"Gotham" Season 3 Episode 7, titled "Red Queen," greets fans with a worried Jim Gordon in a hospital and sitting beside the bed of an injured Valerie Vale. It is here that Vale ended her relationship with Gordon, as the recent dire circumstances made her realize that he still harbors feelings for Leslie "Lee" Thompkins. She also realizes that being around Jim causes nothing but trouble.
While all this is going on, Jervis Tetch was able to get his hands on a powerful hallucinogen called the "Red Queen." He plans to combine it with his sister Alice's blood, in order to exact his revenge on Gotham City. According to Geek, Tetch was able to steal Alice's body from the GCPD morgue, and was able to synthesize a poison that he will later dose the prominent guests of Gotham's "Founders Dinner."
Meanwhile, Edward Nygma has found love again in the form of a librarian named, Isabella. In a report by We Got This Covered, actress Chelsea Spack, who portrayed Edward's first love Kristen Kringle, returns to play her look-alike, Isabella. The news of Edward's new flame enrages Oswald Cobblepot, as he himself is also in love with Edward. He plots to destroy their blossoming relationship by telling her about Edward's incarceration at Arkham. This however proves to be futile as Isabella was able to see past Edward's dark past.
Gordon was able to encounter Tetch in the hospital. He chased after him, but was instead lured to a trap where he is exposed to the "Red Queen." He then suffered from hallucinations comprised of Barbara Kean, Lee Thompkins with their supposed children, and his father, who made him remember that their family's code was written on his father's ring. He was then revived with the help of Lee's fiance, Dr. Mario Calvi.
Later, Jim finds his father's ring and finally decides to rejoin the police force. Captain Barnes glad accepts him back into the force.
At the Founder's Dinner, Oswald encounters a woman who appears to be a member of the "Court of Owls." The woman left after she told Oswald that "they" have been watching him for a long time now. The events that follow entails Tetch holding the guests at gunpoint and forcing all of them to drink wine that is mixed with his deadly concoction, only to be stopped by Captain Barnes. This is when Tetch realizes that the captain had been infected by Alice's cursed blood.
