It's no 'clowning' around this Halloween for the people of Los Angeles as authorities heightened the alert due to Clown Sightings 2016. The clown terror threats are causing nightmares not only to the children of the said state but most especially the parents of these kids who will be out trick or treating this biggest costume party season of the year.
Just like what some schools outside the district have done, the Los Angeles Unified School District has prohibited the people from wearing clown costumes in connection with the Clown Sightings 2016. Now, with Halloween just days away, LAUSD has released an advisory statement: "For the safety of all students, employees, and visitors, no clown costumes are to be worn on any District property."
On a report cited in CBSLA, schools are not the only ones saying no-no to clown costumes. The Haunted Hayride in Griffith Park forbids the use of the creepy clown get-up within its vicinity. Target has also made the decision to remove a variety of clown masks both from their local store and online amid the frenzy over creepy Clown Sightings 2016.
The Clown Sightings 2016 has become a nationwide trend that an app was even developed by an 18-year-old student from UCLA. Corbin Smart came up with an app called Clown Hunt. The app includes a map that will show where clowns are which can help users avoid those areas.
The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children has also warned parents to be 'extra vigilant' as pedophiles may use Halloween as an opportunity to intimidate, molest and harm children, The Guardian stated. There have been 462 alarming calls reported about the creepy clowns scaring and luring children.
Authorities appear to be taking these creepy Clown Sightings 2016 reports quite seriously. They plan to provide extra protection at Taper Elementary and San Pedro High School after some kids tried to frighten a custodial worker, NBC reports.
