The recent rape scene in "Poldark" Season 2, which saw Aidan Turner's Ross Poldark force himself on his recently widowed old flame Elizabeth, caused a stir among viewers. However, Ross might just get his comeuppance soon enough, as his wife is bent on punishing him for the deed.

After finding out about her husband's night of passion with his ex, Demelza is not the type of wife to just pout and be depressed about it. According to latest "Poldark" Season 2 spoilers, Mrs Poldark, played by actress Eleanor Tomlinson, would rather get even, reports The Telegraph.
The next "Poldark" Season 2 episode will see a very different Demelza. While fans might be used to her wearing her everyday clothes, Demelza will be glamorous next episode as she sets out to attend a party without her husband Ross (Aidan Turner) as an escort. For she has a target in mind, the handsome Captain Malcolm McNeil. Will she be able to carry out her plan without glitch?
'Poldark' Season 2 Rape Scene
Most viewers and fans of the hit period drama series were appalled at the rape committed by Aidan Turner's character Ross against his ex Elizabeth (Heida Reid) in the recent "Poldark" Season 2 episode. While there are those who tried to defend it by saying that it was okay with Elizabeth in the end, a lot more are saying that rape is rape; Elizabeth never gave her assent, reports Daily Mail.
Of course, the series was just following the events in Winston Graham's books. However, many were caught unprepared at the brutality that was shown in that "Poldark" Season 2 scene. In fact, many were somehow expecting that the showrunner would present a toned down version, which could have involved Aidan Turner's Ross seducing Elizabeth but not outright rape.
Ultimately, it will be its viewers who will judge if the show still merits attention despite the rather questionable portrayal of that rape scene. "Poldark" Season 2 returns this Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 9 pm on BBC One.
