A new clip about the much hyped and highly anticipated season opener of “The Walking Dead” Season 7 has surfaced. This time however, an alternative Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) victim is featured. Producers of the series confirmed that multiple versions of the scene were shot mostly to throw off spoilers. And, it apparently worked.
The strategy for “The Walking Dead” Season 7 premiere created uncertainty among the show’s many fans which only made them more curious. Reports say that the premiere got an average of 17 million viewers on Sunday night. Fans were given an extra treat when it was revealed that instead of just one victim, two characters fell from Negan’s barbed-wire covered bat. These were Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) and Glenn (Steven Yeun).
Now that this particular “The Walking Dead” Season 7 secret is out, someone (from the show perhaps) leaked one of the alternate killer scenes in YouTube reports Variety. The unfortunate victim killed by Negan shown in the clip is Maggie (Lauren Cohan). AMC has not yet commented on the leak and the video itself.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Yeun shared his thoughts on being one of Negan’s victims which resulted into him leaving “The Walking Dead”. He revealed that it is still a really confusing time because he has mixed emotions about it. But, it also comes with a sense of relief of having a chapter closed.
The actor added that he also feels a sense of accomplishment in seeing all the things he was a part of in his role as Glenn. At the same time, Yeun also feels sadness that he won’t get to work with the “The Walking Dead” people in the same capacity again. Adding to the mix of emotions was the confusion he felt was not knowing how to put everything into place because he had to keep it all a secret.
For the second episode of “The Walking Dead” Season 7 airing on Sunday, not much can be learned from the synopsis but the video shows Morgan (Lennie James) taking Carol (Melissa McBride), who is injured, to meet the new character Ezekiel (Khary Payton). He was briefly introduced with The Kingdom in last season’s finale. But, fans did not get to see the character and his home by the episode’s end. Ezekiel is not a big fan of Negan like Rick and his group. They will team up and join the Hilltop Colony to fight Negan and The Saviors.
