‘Destiny’ Players Annoyed with Trials of Osiris

A number of dedicated players of the hit game Destiny has taken to online discussions and gaming threads a number of their frustrations. Trials of Osiris, the most competitive mode of the game, is flocked with cheaters and their methods. This has led to frequent losses among dedicated fans who also said that they temporarily stopped playing the game.

Affected Destiny players have identical experiences, it begins with increasing lag and eventually going offline on the game, shown in reddit. A dirty method that uses DDoS attacks, the same kind of practice that recently took down a lot of major websites. The match is a 3-on-3 game and when one can no longer reconnect, there is a big disadvantage on the team.

DDoS involves spamming a device with internet traffic. It could only accommodate so much before it starts to have problems differentiating which one is important, resulting to eventually bringing a player offline. A couple of accounts making spam requests shouldn't be a problem for a lot of games, but for Destiny that uses a peer-to-peer connection than a dedicated server from Bungie, the attack is easily replicated.

The DDoS attacks are the biggest concern for the community as it really knocks players out of the game, however, it is not the only method being adopted by cheaters. A number of reports have also sprung up that during a game, spam messages come by the hundreds, according to Polygon. The problem is that whenever a new message is received, it shows on the upper left side of the screen which blocks the in-game radar.

Destiny players have brought their concern to Bungie, however, they released an unsatisfying statement. According to their spokesperson, the best way to deal with the issue is to report cheaters. Though, it only serves as a temporary solution, if not effective. Unless the company provides a solution, the community will be left with players who can spam the fastest.
