The pace at which Justin Timberlake voting selfie issue rose indicated trouble coming the star's way. However, it seems to be all hype.
According to the latest reports, the singer will face no court proceedings and has been excused for his mistake. This came following the withdrawal of the controversial photograph from his social media accounts, including Instagram and Twitter. The picture showed Justin Timberlake preparing to slide his voter card into the voting machine. The photograph was clicked at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church located in Tennessee Germantown's Memphis suburb.
According to USA Today, Justin Timberlake did not give any explanation to the taking down of the picture from the social platforms. However, it is known that clicking pictures or taking videos inside the polling booths is still considered illegal in Tennessee. The text accompanying the image urged the public to go to the polls and vote for a right candidate. The singer went to the poll on Monday to vote for the US elections 2016. In addition to taking a selfie, the star also clicked some photos with fans as well as two candidates representing the controversial county.
Earlier on Tuesday, Shelby County district attorney told CNN that Justin Timberlake voting matter was under review. He added that it might lead the actor to 30-day imprisonment and/or $50 fine in the US state. However, on Wednesday, he backed off and given a contrary statement. The attorney said that there were no plans of investigating the matter. He claimed that he was misinformed about the investigation's "under review" status earlier.
"No one in our office is currently investigating this matter nor will we be using our limited resources to do so," the attorney stated refrring to Justin Timberlake voting selfie controversy. The contradictory statements from the same person on the same issue raise doubts about the legal system. Is the law different for people from different status? Is it not an example of mixed laws?
