It may have been some time since “Half-Life 2” was last in the air but the classic shooter game will be making a return of sorts by way of the Xbox One backwards compatibility program. This was made possible through the Orange box integration.
“Half-Life 2” has been out of circulation since hitting the gaming niche back in 2004 but thanks to the nostalgia tied up to Microsoft’s deal, the game along with some others will be included in the Orange box as announced by Major Nelson over at Twitter.

Orange box for the Xbox One backwards compatibility route will include other titles under Valve’s watch as well. This includes, “Half-Life 2: Episode 1”, “Half-Life 2: Episode 2”, “Team Fortress” and “Portal”, Attack of the Fan Boy reported.
This should be good news to members who already have Orange box for the Xbox 360. Upon boot, this means that affected gamers can get their hands on the “Half-Life 2” series plus a couple of retro games. Bear in mind that other games will be available as well outside the Orange box such as “Joe Danger 2: The Movie” and “Galaga Legions”. That said, it should be an interesting month for Xbox One backwards compatibility gamers.
Should this be taken as something done to offset the attention on the curious case of "Half-Life 2" successor, “Half-Life 3”? As most know, little has been known to the third installment though the belief is that development is ongoing. Though the initiative may not be at full capacity, the leaked game codes tied up to virtual reality have given gamers a new lease on life of a potential coming, IGN reported.
While the game codes being tied up to “Half-Life 3” is something to consider, the fact is that Valve has not officially tackled its true state. Thus, it may be best to focus first on the “Half-Life 2” series under the Xbox One backwards compatibility program before entertaining thought of a “Half-Life 3” coming.
