The Internet somehow broke yesterday as the trailer for the third and final Wolverine movie, "Logan" was released. The trailer for "Logan" introduces an emotional and unconventional "Wolverine" movie.
For 16 years of "X-Men" movies and seeing Hugh Jackman play the Wolverine/Logan in almost all of them (except Deadpool), one might have been fed up. But cheer up as the latest "Wolverine" movie promises a fresh take on the comic book berserker.
As reported by Comicbook, The "Logan" trailer unconventionally opens up with country music from Johnny Cash's cover of Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt," which perfectly sets the tone and describes the titular Logan (Jackman) in this film. He is old and broken, as most of the mutants of his post-apocalyptic world are dead. His body filled with scars, sign of his fading healing factor. He is joined by an equally dwindling and frail Professor X/Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), whose mutant mind power is also waning and taken cared of by Logan in a fallen water tank shelter in what appears to be the desert country Mexico.
As the trailer goes on, a mysterious young girl is introduced (Dafne Keen) who Xavier describes as having the same powers as Logan, subtly referencing Laura Kinney A.K.A. X-23, Wolverine's clone in the comics. Logan would have to embark on one last mission to protect this girl from armed men lead by a cybernetically-armed Donald Pierce (Boyd Holbrook). Also shown in the trailer is a hatted and masked mutant known as "Caliban" (Stephen Merchant), which first appeared living in the 80's in this year's X-Men Apocalypse.
There is also a red band international trailer of the film which only adds one scene where "Logan" charges and brutally impales a man in the head. Directed by James Mangold and produced by 20th Century Fox, "Logan" adapts the "Old Man Logan" 2008 comic book storyline by Mark Millar which depicts Wolverine in his twilight years.
The "Logan" film also marks the last performance of Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart as Wolverine and Professor X respectively. "Logan" arrives March 3, 2017.
