"The Flash" Season 3 Episode 3, "Magenta," explored the aftermath of the post-Flashpoint timeline, which was the direct consequence of Barry Allen's (Grant Justin) tinkering with the past. Since his return, Doctor Alchemy has been inciting new rivals left and right against The Flash: Edward Clariss (The Rival, played by Todd Lasance), and Magenta (Joey King). How will he deal with all these new superpowered rivals?
Recap of 'The Flash' Season 3 Episode 3: 'Magenta'
It was not all superhero trouble for Barry Allen, however. "The Flash" Season 3 Episode 3, "Magenta," was bookended by Barry and Iris West Allen's (Candice Patton) awkward first attempts at dating. They resolved not to talk about The Flash at first, which made for a pretty boring night. But towards the end of the episode, Barry realized that they both needed to acknowledge who they are now rather than who they were before.
Enter Earth 2 Harry Wells (Tom Cavanagh) and his daughter, Jesse (Violett Beane), who now has speedster powers like The Flash. At first, he told Team Flash that he merely wanted to run some tests on his new superpowered daughter, but it's later revealed that he actually wanted to convince her from using her powers. Harry was doubling down on being a negligent parent before and wanted to protect her from harm in "The Flash" Season 3 Episode 3.
But "The Flash" Season 3 Episode 2 revealed a new meta named "Magenta," aka John Kane's foster daughter Frankie, was out to wreak havoc in the city. She was being spurred on by Doctor Alchemy, but was talked out of it long enough for Barry Allen and Jesse to speed into action. Harry later on acknowledged that Jesse was not only his hero but everyone's now as well.
