After the first movie became a surprise hit, a "Train To Busan 2" is finally in the works. The movie, directed by Yeon Sang Ho, stars Korean superstar Gong Yoo and is about people who boards a KTX (Korean high speed train) in the midst of a zombie outbreak in South Korea.
While Gong Yoo hopes that the success of "Train To Busan" will start a massive zombie franchise with a possible "Train To Busan 2" in an interview with Indie Wire, it looks like that will change if recent news are to be believed. According to reports, Hollywood studios are trying to convince Yeon Sang Ho that the best direction for a zombie series to be started is if the "Train To Busan" sequel goes the Hollywood route.
It has been reported via the Hollywood Reporter that Fox and Sony are on a bidding war to make a remake. It turns out that will no longer happen and the studio that will successfully win the bidding war will instead be making a "Train To Busan 2" film . This means that the Korean cast will no longer be coming back but the director is said to be lobbying for at least Gong Yoo to appear.
There is still no announced release date for the "Train To Busan 2" but considering that it is still in the writing stage plus the upcoming production and post-production, it will be late 2017 before the "Train To Busan" sequel will be in theaters. GameNGuide will be covering more on updates on the "Train To Busan" sequel in the coming months as production for the movie starts.
