An interesting detail about the upcoming game "Kingdom Hearts 3" has been revealed. Series creator Tetsuya Nomura teased of a hidden message contained in the box art of previous game sequels.
Avid Disney fans and video game lovers have been looking forward to the upcoming release of "Kingdom Hearts 3." Initially scheduled for a December 2016 launch, the game's release date has been moved to 2017.
Square Enix also remained tight-lipped about the game's details. However, Nomura teased of a secret hidden in the previous "Kingdom Hearts HD" box arts. In an interview with Dengeki PlayStation, as cited by GameRant, the game director revealed that the design of the said box arts were meant to depict Sora in different timelines.
Nomura explained that the box art for "Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMix" featured the game's protagonist in a sitting position among famous Disney characters such as Goofy and Donald Duck. The said game character was eventually depicted in a standing and walking position in "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMix" and "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue," respectively.
When the three game's box arts are lined up together, the illustrations will highlight three different timelines in a day. The background will show the skyline changes from sunset heading towards night time and eventually into a new dawn, according to Nomura.
Apart from unveiling the secret behind the game's box art designs, Nomura teased of a hidden message depicted in the said illustrations. It appears that the said message contains an Easter egg about "Kingdom Hearts 3." However, Nomura declined to disclose details about the hidden message.
Meanwhile, the series' creator previously shared an update about the game's development. In a Twitter message, as cited by Kingdom Hearts Insider, Nomura revealed that that his team has been "steadily" working on "Kingdom Hearts 3." He even hinted of its new worlds, as well as Sora's increased maneuverability in the upcoming game title.
