Kratos is one violent dude, and most of the time gamers seem to dig it, but when he's tasked with beating the crap out of a femalish charcter, a Fury to be exact, and then rewarded for it? Not so much. Reviewers responded poorly to the potentially mysogonistic material. It doesn't help that the Trophy given to the player is called "Bros Before Hoes." Sony Santa Monica is changing the name of that trophy in a patch alongside the game's release on March 12.
Sony Santa Monica reached out to Joystiq on Monday, letting everyone know they plan on changing the trophy's name, though no further details were given about the upcomming patch. It's unclear if Santa Monica Studios intends to change any content within the game, though it's also unclear if anybody woulod have responded in such a way if the Trophy had been named, literally, anything else. I'm sure some out there would have been offended either way, but they likely wouldn't have played a "God of War" game in the past either. Kratos has been pretty furious for a pretty long time now. Fans will get there chance to judge when the game releases on Tuesday.
The new name for the trophy is 'Bros Before Foes,' Joystiq writes. Far less offensive, clearly, but wouldn't all bros come before foes?
'God of War: Ascension' will release exclusively to the PS3 to decent, if somewhat underwhelming reviews.
