AJ Styles is one of the few wrestlers who has moved up in the "WWE" ranks though much of it hardly comes as a surprise. He is a proven commodity and one reason why he is the "WWE" heavyweight champion over at SmackDown. Moving ahead, the “Phenomenal One” is primed for more classic matches for greats like Randy Orton.
A potential AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton showdown is expected to happen at some point in the "WWE," a booking that can be easily done considering both are on SmackDown. Looking at a bigger picture, however, it wouldn’t come as a surprise of the two would collide at one of the future Wrestlemania events, per his interview with ESPN.
If so, that would fulfill one of the dream matches that the “Phenomenal One” is looking forward to. Seeing that both AJ Styles and Randy Orton are involved in separate feuds right now, seeing all that happen may take some time.
Depending on the storylines of the "WWE" creative team, there is a slim chance it could come as early as Wrestlemania 33 in 2017. At the moment, Styles is busy with Dean Ambrose while Orton has his hands full with Bray Wyatt.
Styles is, however, aware that this could happen at some point moving forward. He leaves the decision up to the "WWE" universe and made it clear that he is in no hurry to do so, PW Mania reported. There is understandable confidence on his part since he has been around and knows the do’s and don’ts in the wrestling business.
The flexibility of AJ Styles is a factor that allowed him to rise to the top of the "WWE." He debuted with a bang as a surprise entrant at the "WWE" Royal Rumble 2016 and is barely a year old in the company. He has made a name for himself in factions like TNA and New Japan Pro Wrestling and remains a big draw playing out mapped out storylines.
