‘Overwatch’ Latest News & Update: Halloween monster quest ‘Junkenstein's Revenge’ too boring?

Blizzard has introduced its first co-op PvE brawl event named "Junkenstein's Revenge." Players can join a quest to defeat monsters, zomnics and Dr. Junkenstein himself in the latest Halloween update for "Overwatch."

Something sinister is lurking in Blizzard's popular game "Overwatch" with its latest Halloween terror event. The gaming company unleashed details of its brand new seasonal challenge on the game's official website that includes special loot items, Halloween-themed skins and the "Junkenstein's Revenge" PvE co-op challenge.

"Overwatch" players can participate in the said challenge by teaming up with three other gamers to embark on a special monster quest. Game developers have added several new eerie and spooky characters from zomnics or mechanical zombies, as well as a witch and a reaper.

Similar to the classic Frankenstein story, "Overwatch's" "Junkenstein's Revenge" event also features a monster created by the game character Dr. Jamison Junkenstein. An avid inventor and scientist who was ridiculed due to his creations, Dr. Junkenstein vowed to avenge himself against detractors particularly his former employer, the Lord of Adlersbrunn.

Four protagonists have been added as part of the game's Halloween update. Gamers can choose to play as the archer Hanzo, the alchemist Ana, a soldier known as Soldier: 76 or the gunslinger McCree. The four characters are tasked to protect Adlersbrunn and his mansions from Dr. Jukenstein's evil forces.

The new Halloween monster quest may sound exciting, however, a game review posted on Forbes labeled it as "just ok." The "Junkenstein's Revenge" PvE brawl's "horde" mode was even described as "nothing ... special."

The new "Overwatch" holiday-themed challenge will require a four-player team to destroy a horde of robot enemies and monsters. After several rounds, some gamers may find themselves disinterested with the game's new challenge since it does not offer varied levels. However, adjusting the game's difficulty level may help to keep some players interested in continuing the said Halloween challenge.

"Overwatch's" latest Halloween PvE challenge will run until Nov. 1. Watch the game's latest teaser for below:
