Cleveland Cavaliers couldn't afford Dwayne Wade so his attempts to flirt reunion with LeBron James after dismissal from Miami Heat didn't come to fruition. Wade ended with Chicago Bulls instead.
While Dwayne Wade stressed that money was not the issue behind his decision, a tandem with James crossed over his mind. Wade even stated that he is willing to take a pay cut. Then he later retracted by saying that Cavs might not be the right fit for him because to defend his hometown Chicago is a higher calling. However, LeBron followed up with a statement that it is money matters that halted the deal.
LeBron detailed that the current cap of Cleveland doesn't allow further acquisition of high-caliber players like Dwayne Wade. Even Cavs coach Tyronn Lue seconded James' sentiments that they want Wade if not for some financial hindrances. ESPN cited Lue calling Wade as a future Hall of Famer that could be a good addition to any team. Then he capped that every other NBA franchise wants to get Wade into the equation.
If money is indeed the underlying factor behind Dwayne Wade finally ending with Chicago Bulls, figures are easy to explain everything. Wade signed for $47 million 2-year contract with the Bulls. On the contrary, Cavs can file for an exception but even so, the team can only manage to free $3.5 million tops. Remember that Cavs already have high-value players like LeBron, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving, CBS Sports reported.
Meanwhile, LeBron admits that he communicates with on regular basis Dwayne Wade and he is happy with how things are unfolding for his former teammate. He said that not only Bulls benefitted from Wade but the community as well because there are lots of activities reaching out to Chicago populace. Then LeBron closed his statements by saying that it is his perspective that NBA is a business where new team is possible at any moment. Meaning, teaming up with Wade can't really endure forever.
