It was reported in September that Samsung is thinking of ditching the flat screen and go for a curved display for its next premium smartphone Samsung Galaxy S8. The device will reportedly feature some revolutionary specs and features that will give the Apple iPhone 8 a string competition.
The tech giant is promoting the curved display as a key identity for the company's premium smartphone lineup including Samsung Galaxy S8. Samsung had already started securing display panels in two sizes, 5.1-inch and 5.5-inch, from its own display-making unit Samsung Display, reported Korea Herald. Samsung Display is the only producer of double-edged screens.
Samsung has also been improving its glass and metal design and tech experts expect the company to master this design by 2017. A glass back allows devices to adapt to wireless charging more easily. A curved glass also adds to the premium look and feel of a device.
The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 may come with some incredible pixel density. According to another report by Android Central, the device will come with 4K UHD display. As such display requires a massive amount of graphics power, the Galaxy S8 will also come with a super-powerful processor and GPU.
The GPU chipset may be from ARM and it will reportedly increase performance of the device by 40 percent when compared to GPUs of Note 7 and S7. The pixel density will also be increased by 20 percent. Chances are that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be unveiled during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain on Feb. 27, 2017.
Pocket Now reported a Weibo leak in September that showed some crazy Samsung Galaxy S8 specs such as a 3.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 5.2-inch 4K display, 4096X2160 pixel resolution, 6GB of RAM, 30MP rear camera, 9MP front camera, 64GB/128GB memory, dual micro SD card support and a 4,200 mAh battery.
