Now that the "Tomb Raider" reboot is out, read our review round-up here, developer Crystal Dynamics is eyeing a reboot of the film franchise, reports Variety.
This will not be the first "Tomb Raider" to hit the big screen. First there was "Laura Croft: Tomb Raider" in 2001 followed by "Laura Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life." Both starred Angelina Jolie. The first film was a competent action movie while the second underperfomed expectations.
The new film is set to reboot the franchise. Instead of just licensing the property to a film maker Crystal Dynamics is working with GK Films on the project.
"It was important for both of us to have a cohesive version of the franchise,” Noel Gallagher, head of Crystal Dynamics, tells Variety. “We didn’t want to see a film version that was a continuation of the old "Tomb Raider" films.”
Details of the new film remain scant although Gallagher tells Variety he is looking to the "Batman" and "James Bond" reboots for inspiration. GK Films producded films such as "The Departed" and "Hugo."
