The new "Mortal Kombat X" patch and "Mortal Kombat XL" launched on Oct. 4, 2016. The new update introduced several balance changes which will hopefully offset characters in the game. According to "Mortal Kombat X" creator Ed Boon, the latest changes focus on creating a more fun and balanced experience for gamers.
GameSpot revealed that according to developer NetherRealm Studios, all in-game items that were only available by playing the mobile game before are now available to everyone for free. "Mortal Kombat X" players only need to link their WBID account to unlock the skins. The new "Mortal Kombat X" patch also introduced system changes involving air attacks, running, armor and wake-up attacks. The energy cost to cancel into a dash was increased from 15 to 25.
The cost of energy to start running was increased from 15 to 25. "Mortal Kombat X" characters who are running and get hit will lose 50 energy. The air attacks have also been adjusted by the new "Mortal Kombat X" patch. Before, the character's hurtbox and hitbox increase in size simultaneously, but the new change lets the hurtbox get bigger by one frame earlier than the hitbox. As a result, characters can get hit before they can hit back, depending on the timing.
Delayed wake-up no longer works in "Mortal Kombat X" for players who are holding the block button. As a result, characters can execute wake-up attacks more quickly, which will be useful when trying to surprise enemies. There are also specific changes brought by "Mortal Kombat X" update to various characters in the game. Several general gameplay fixes were also introduced, such as various move list corrections and the Kounter message added whenever a hit lands as a punish or counterattack.
Xbox Achievements stated that "Mortal Kombat X" players can no longer use specific timing to avoid recovery frames on certain jump attacks with weapons. The victim blockstun and attacker block recovery and several moves have also been lowered, while maintain the same + | - on block advantage. More updates and details on the latest "Mortal Kombat X" update are expected soon.
