The next entry in the Batman Arkham series will be released this year, according to Time Warner CFO John K. Martin.
According to Kotaku, Martin mentioned the game's release to investors during an earnings call last week. "And we also have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise," said Martin. "So all in all, we expect Warners to post another very strong year in 2013."
Though it's been generally assumed that another Arkham game would be coming, this is the first concrete information regarding the third entry in the Arkham series. Variety reported that the next Arkham game would ditch the series' gritty look for a retro design aethetic inspired by DC comics' "silver age," and possibly introduce other members of the Justice League. More recently, publisher Warner Bros Interactive registered a series of domains introducing a list of possible titles, including "Arkham Universe," "Dark Knight Arkham," and "Batman Arkham Arises."
Of course, that leaves a lot of questions: Given that the game hasn't been announced, but is on track for a 2013 release, the logical assumption is that Arkham 3 will come to next-gen concsoles. Of course, that's pure speculation at this point. We'll keep an eye out and let you know as more information presents itself.
