It seems that the iPhone 7 Plus exploded while in the process of delivery. As seen on the several photos posted online, the iPhone 7 Plus box was dismantled, the explosion of the iPhone 7 Plus might not have been recognized because of the extra packaging during delivery.

Several people have already seen the post and were asking details about the incident. The only response the the Redditor was able to provide is "I'm not certain, but something happened between the factory and delivery."
Apple Quick To Investigate And To Resolve The Issue
An update over "kroopthesnoop" Reddit post stated that "An Account Exec from Apple's Texas offices just reached out to me (verified via LinkedIn), asking for information around this post. Ended up giving them coworker's contact information. Will update again when more happens." The Apple Account Executive then called his officemate offering a replacement phone, seeking assistance with AT&T to speed up the process.
