Just last week, September 23 Niantic quietly released a new "Pokemon GO" update. Now aside from showing the Pokemon's Capture location and improved compatibility features with "Pokemon GO" Plus, there is actually one more significant change that Niantic has come up with.
Change in "Pokemon GO" Gym Battles
If you are used to just smashing your screen with fast taps during "Pokemon GO" gym battles, then you need know this. Youtuber Trainer Tips has recently made an observation regarding "Pokemon GO" gym battles.
"Pokemon GO's" recent update seems to be causing a lag or delay in dodging or attacks. We have found out that is not exactly the case as Niantic introduced a buffering system into "Pokemon GO's" gym battles.
Trainer Tips has mentioned in his Youtube video that with the new update, it is not advisable anymore to button mash the screen while participating in a gym battle. Instead with the new buffering system that Niantic has added for "Pokemon GO," even before the attack animation of the opposing Pokemon ends, you can already place an attack command for your Pokemon.
That means if you swipe left or right on your screen, after the attack animation of your Pokemon it will dodge right away. If your Pokemon is currently in attack animation and you continue to tap the screen, once a yellow light flashes and you swipe left or right, it would not dodge.
Instead your Pokemon will follow the command that you placed before swiping left or right which is attack, caused by button mashing. Here is the rest of the Youtube video:
